Setting up an employee acknowledgment and then having it emailed directly... Can Storyline accommodate this?

Feb 09, 2015

I am going to try and explain my need very thoroughly.

I have many clients that have personalized modules.  In the modules, they have their employee view their policy, and then take a quiz on the policy.  Easy.

This current client does not want a final exam, but something more personalized.  They want their employee to view the policy document.  Easy.  Then, though, they want a form of acknowledgment.  I currently have their acknowledgment PDF.  Can the employee open that PDF through Storyline and then directly email it without saving it to their hard drive?  If the answer is no, the client is okay with us building this acknowledgment into Storyline itself. ..... I think we need to have the acknowledgement as a slide in the module in which they can enter their name and date and check the Yes box. Then, we need to figure out the email request. Ideally, I would like them to click a link or button and their email pops up with the document already attached. But, I am not sure if this is possible or not.  If it is or if there is a better way to do it, I am all ears!

Thank you ahead of time for any help!

Hi Stefanie -

Although you can certainly create a URL like this that should create an email message:

mailto:example@foo.com?subject=Acknowledgment

... when I've tried to do this in the past, I've encountered a lot of issues getting the learner's email client to cooperate.  It did work.... about 70-80% of the time.  However if it doesn't work, then you have to provide some kind of alternate method to submit the acknowledgment.  That was just my experience a few years ago.

Maybe others can provide better solutions for you.

As Anne said it is possible to accomplish in storyline, but I would not trust it to work 100% of the time. I would probably go with printing certificates or something as an alternative.
