Is it possible to show a video only one time in articulate? Can you put a trigger or sth else on the video so that students can only see it one time, even if they have closed the lesson and try the samen lesson again from start?
Sean - does the second trigger "stop" the video from ever playing or just stops the video when the screen opens but can be played again if the user selects the play button? If the player button/ribbon was not visible would the video be stopped and unselectable to play again?? If the video were placed on a layer and you had a trigger to hide the layer when the timeline starts and if the video was "true" then the video not even be seen? Thanks.
To be clear... you want to have a video and the learner can only view it ONE time? And if they close the course, and come back to it, you want the video to be inaccessible/disabled? Is this correct?
How are your learners accessing this content? Does your company use an LMS or are you simply uploading the e-learning module to a web server?
As above from Nicole...I am wondering whether this works in all instances when they REPLAY the course again from start. Would be interesting to understand if there is a "universal kill switch" that could be applied to videos like this!
If your learners are simply accessing the elearning module from within a web browser (and not through an LMS - Learning MAnagement System) I don't believe you'll be able to do this. I don't think so in any case... but maybe someone else in the community knows a way to do this...
If you're not viewing from an LMS I don't believe it will work on a second viewing of the course, as the variables will likely reset - that's been my experience at least.
If you include viewing controls when you embed the video the learner should be able to restart (and stop) at their discretion.

You should be able to do so by creating a variable - VidViewed (T/F) - initially false.
Set the variable to change to True once the video has completed.
Also create a variable on the video page to pause or stop media (video name) unless the VidViewed variable is false.
The variable should hold from session to session if your LMS allows.
Hi Sean
thanks for the reply. I am not yet advanced in storyline however so I am not sure I quite understand what you write above.
I added a smal videolesson here. Is it possible to put the trigger there so I can see what you did?
thanks
Hello again
I am still struggling with the question above. Can anyone help?
Thanks
Hi Ludovic,
I can't upload the SL file for you as I'm using a different version, but I've attached screenshots of the two triggers I mentioned.
Great!
Thanks for helping me out.

Hi Nicole
yes that's correct. I tried last night to do as suggested by Sean but I don't seem to get it wright.
Learners access via weblink so we simply upload to a web server.
