I have 5 separate course modules. Each module is a chunk of a larger topic. I would like to link each module together via a button with one large assessment. I know this can be done using scenes but this is not what I am looking for. Is there an easy way to do this? Is it even possible? I would like to keep the size down because each of these chunks has a video and an interactive simulation. If there is a better way I could be doing this, all suggestions are most welcome!
Hi Lori. Are you posting your courses to an LMS? If so, your LMS may have features that can support this. When I was administering an LMS several years ago, we had the option to create a "curriculum" that contained separate courses and a stand-alone quiz that was accessed once the learner had completed all of the courses. If that sounds a bit like what you're trying to do, you might want to check with your LMS vendor to see if they support it.
Trina is absolutely right in suggesting that your LMS may be able to provide you this kind of back-end support for your course module(s).
My own experience has been that Saba has options to support this kind of "multi-module" staged bundling and packaging on the back end, so you may want to speak with your LMS administrator regarding these options/possibilities to see how that might work for you.
I suspect if you are using a standard LMS vendor, this would very likely be supported.
It's just a question of asking/checking this option out.
If this does work out for you, please tell us your story!
I would be interested to know how this works out, as I will be in a very similar position to yours for some multi-module development sometime later this year or in early 2018. ;)
Thank you both for your suggestions! We are in the middle of switching to a new LMS and this was one conversation I have yet to have with them. I will most certainly ask the question and let you know how it works out.
