Storyline 2 - Good, Better, Best Quizzing

May 04, 2017

Hello, in my current project the learner is presented a scenario conversation (in the context of a call center. At the end of conversation there is statement that reads, "Let's help Andy choose the best response". The learner then clicks next and presented with a three response choices (good, better, best) - in a pick-one quiz question format. Each response has specific feedback (i.e., this answer is good because xyz..., this answer is best because xyz...). Currently, once the learner picks a response they move on to the next scenario.

The client would like the learner to retry selecting a response until they choose the best response. I'm getting stuck as the retry option is only available in the multiple choice question format, with feedback given by question - not choice.

What I need is feedback given for each choice, and having the learner retry the question until they pick the best response. I'm thinking this is going to be a custom build, but I'm hoping not. Appreciate the help.

I haven't tried this but see if it works:

1) in the form view of the pick one question, be sure attempts is set to unlimited.
2) set feedback to "by choice"
3) add your feedback text here. This triggers a layer to be created for each custom feedback
4) on each  feedback layer, add an action to the 'continue' button to take you to the existing slide.
5) set the slide properties on the base layer to "reset to initial state" when revisiting.

Hi Owen, thanks for the reply. I dug a little deeper and came to conclusion that a pick-one question, being a survey question, does not allow multiple attempts; therefore does not provide "try again" feedback.

I've decided to restructure the questions to be graded multiple choice questions, where though I can't give specific feedback per choice, I can allow the user to try again when selecting the proper response.

Thanks again,
Ryan

Check this file out. It has what I described using both the freeform pick one (graded) and the survey pick one (ungraded).  I broke them up with a T/F question so you could see how they all work together.  Note that both pick ones will keep you looping through the question until you get the right answer. :-)
