64-Bit Storyline 360
Is there a way to access a 64-bit version of Storyline 360? I noticed what I have installed through the 360 suite is only 32-bit and I'm finding that I may be reaching a ceiling with performance while developing my courses. I click on pretty much anything in the app and have to wait a full second before Storyline 360 responds. This has slowed my production down significantly. I was wondering if there's a way to get a 64-bit version or if anyone is having a similar issue.
Thanks
Hi Everyone!
Great news! I'm happy to share that we just released Storyline 360 (version 3.82.31354.0), which includes a new 64-bit version of Storyline 360! Harness the processing power in modern computers with 64-bit Storyline 360. Large, media-rich courses benefit from increased stability and faster performance!
To use 64-bit Storyline 360, please update your Articulate 360 desktop app, then click the Install button next to the Storyline 360 app with the 64-bit and beta labels. The Install button will change to an Open button when the installation is complete.
This was highly requested, so we hope it serves you in your course creation! If you run into any snags, don't hesitate to contact our team in a support case.

here is an interesting link on the subject
ie11 was a big problem - IE11 is gone -> @articulate please move to 64 bit
disadvantage would of course be - no support for windows 10 (32 bit) - or create 32b bit and 64 bit application (as all other software manufacturers have been doing for a long time)
i don't know of any other software - that is still being developed - that doesn't offer a 64bit version

The silence here from Articulate representatives is deafening.
Here we are, some 5 years since this issue was first raised and we are still no further forward, still completely in the dark in regard to Articulate's plan. I half joke that we will be using 128 bit systems by the time we see a 64 bit version and we will have to start all over again.
Given the significant amounts of money that we pay for either the standalone version or for Articulate 360, it is unbelievable that we are still exactly where we were 5 years ago and with no solution in sight. I am in the process of onboarding 7 members of my team to Articulate 360 from their current perpetual Storyline 3 licences. This will cost in the region of $10,500 pa on top of the $3000 pa we currently pay for our Instructional Designers. This is in addition to the 50+ seats we already pay for globally. That is not an insignificant amount of money for any business. And I am forever asking myself what do we actually get in return for that?
Like others here, I am seriously considering drawing up a proposal to move our organisation to an alternative solution. It may involve a significant up front cost and will, undoubtedly, be a nightmare to transition, but what alternative do we have? Throw money at something that fails to keep up with the most basic of requirements?
I sincerely hope I am proven wrong, but I fear the worst. - DiarmaidCollinsCommunity Member
It looks as if the focus for Articulate is on trying to make Rise the go-to tool for eLearning Development. They have shuttered Storyline 3, and there have been ... minimal... improvements to the absolute basic functionality within Storyline360 (has anyone tried drawing a curved line recently?) on really, really basic feature requests for nigh on 10 years.
What makes any of us think that Articulate is listening or even cares about our issues with this clunky software? Why do we think that the ability to make bespoke eLearning Solutions™ for our clients in any way benefits Articulate when, with the priority on Rise, ANYONE can make an eLearning Course with ease - "No Skills Necessary"? It's just WYSIWYG modals and text slammed in. Simples.
The idea that 64-bit development will make them money over a web-based offering that anyone can use is, sadly, delusional, I feel at this stage. It's such a pricey subscription for so many things I NEVER use in order to use an app that is shonky at best, and neglected as worse, is just infuriating to me.
Rumour had it that there was a Mac version in the pipeline a few years ago, but, yeah...
I'm not holding my breath for any major, profound and useful update to Storyline 360 in the near future, and indeed, suspect it will be shuttered as well as soon as Rise usage gains critical mass.

There is a 64 bit version in the works if you read the CTOs most recent post
Hi Muhammad,
I'm sorry to hear about the crashing! Did you already go through the repair steps as Leslie had mentioned before? If so, and you're still running into difficulty I'd like to have you work with our Support team. They'll be able to pull some error logs, to help determine what may be causing the crash.
Hello Charlotte!
I cannot speak for Muhammad, so hopefully he'll be able to chime in. It does look like he reached out to our support team, but no confirmation if the steps there was able to alleviate the issue.
You are certainly welcome to reach out to the user directly via the 'Contact Me' option on the user profile if you do not hear back soon.
Please feel free to reach out to our support team here if you need further assistance.

I run Storyline 360 on my Mac using Parallels 10 and have the app as an icon in my Dock.
I applied the most recent update (October 12, 2017 (Build 3.9.13567.0)) last night and noticed that today it is extremely sluggish and unresponsive.
I realised that there was a second icon in the Dock titled Articulate Storyline 360 x32 which is what was running. The original icon does nothing now when clicked except run a dialog box that disappears almost instantly...
It seems to be targeting the installer but it has always opened the application itself whenever clicked in the past.
It does look like the recent update is opening a 32-bit version of the software and it runs terribly on my machine.
Is there even a 64-bit version of Storyline 360 yet?
Hi Diarmaid!
Really sorry you're running into trouble. I also use a Mac with a virtual machine running Windows 10, so I wouldn't expect Storyline to be sluggish and unresponsive there.
For now, the Articulate 360 apps are 32-bit programs, and we do not have a different version available. If you'd like to see a 64-bit version, you are welcome to share your thoughts with our product development team here!
It sounds like your system meets our requirements here, so let's first try repairing your software. If that doesn't help, reach out to our Support Engineers using this form. They're around 24/7 to help!
Hi Diarmaid,
I haven't heard of similar reports of those two issues in the latest update, nor have I run into them myself. I'd like to have our Support team reach out and work with you figure out what is happening with how Storyline is opening and the other behavior you saw. Is it okay if they reach out to you directly?
