Attempts and retry do not work on LMS - 3 set but unlimited attempts granted
We have developed courses which allow 3 attempts with triggers in the course itself.
When failing there is a retry button.
If the learner starts the course for the first time they get 3 attempts, if they fail, the course displays the expected message to contact an admin. So far so good.
But if the learner reopens the course on LMS additional 3 attempts are granted within the Storyline course. The course then opens with the 2 options to resume or restart.
When restarting is selected the course starts with 3 new attempts.
It seems there is no comms between the scorm file and the LMS on the session itself.
If I remove the retry button and disable the resume options the learner closes the course after failure and the result failed is saved. The attempts are then properly tracked. For every failed assessment I see an entry and the scoring. Exactly how I anticipate it.
Is this an issue I can fix in Storyline or an issue the Successfactors LMS?

This should be managed by the LMS. You could set the course to force resume but then the user could open a new attempt from the LMS

Thanks PhilMayor
Figured out it is a problem of the LMS.
What I did: deactivated resume, removed the retry button (no more 3 attempts per session).
The Admin team set 3 attempts on LMS side, works now.
What settings the LMS team need to amend so I can use the resume and 3 attempts in the course I am not aware though. Seems there is a setting missing that monitors the attempts per session id.

Does your LMS have a new attempt button, or setting to open new attempt? Most LMSs open the same attempt everytime
