CC imported to video - issues.
Hi, Wondering if anyone has any fix or work-around for this.
I created the captions for a video from a script using text-to-speech (TTS), I then exported the captions as a .vtt file, and then imported the .vtt file into the video. But when I import them the captions start at 00:00. I tried adding silence and other work arounds - but no joy. Is there a way to select all the captions and shunt them forward as one in the edit captions mode so they match the voice. I can't find any way to select all captions and do that. I tried leaving the TTS as a stand alone and aligning it to where the voice started in the video, but as the TTS is much faster than the video voice it presents a problem with precision/lining up the CC with the video voice. Does anyone have any ideas on how best to approach this that would be less labor intensive than addressing each caption separately.
Million thanks for any ideas.
Hi Ange,
Thanks for reaching out!
For Closed Captioning to work properly, you'll need to use a tool specifically for generating closed captions to get the timing correct. One tool that you can use to generate a closed caption file for free is Youtube's automatic captioning feature. You can check out how to generate closed captions files in Youtube here.
Once you have the closed caption file ready, import it to your video and the timing should now be correct.
Let me know if you have any questions!

Thank you. I can't use youtube - NDA. However the team is using a tool specifically to generate closed captions. I will ask them to export as VTT if possible, instead of a word doc. If not, is there any way to select all caption boxes in caption-edit mode and shunt as one? That would work for me.
Hello Ange,
Thanks for the additional information. Unfortunately, there isn't a way to edit the timing in caption-edit mode.
I’ll be happy to pass your thoughts on to our product team, but you can also feel free to detail them more through a feature request!

HI, It's not the timing per se, but rather having the ability to select some/all captions in caption editor and shunt them all to the right instead of doing it one by one.
Hi Ange,
Thanks for the update! While that functionality isn't available as well, you can check out the solution shared by this community member which involves using third-party applications to move multiple captions all at once. Hope this helps!
