How to create closed caption using Storyline and publishing as video
Hello,
I wanted to create a course using Storyline (e.g., 5 or 6 slides with text/images), publish it as a video, and load it into YouTube. I also wanted to have the closed caption feature work in YouTube.
Can this be done in Storyline?
Is there a video that demonstrates this?

I have some great news to share. We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 73, we’ve included important fixes and new features!
One new feature we’ve included:
Boost video accessibility by including closed captions when publishing projects as MP4 video files.
To take advantage of this update, launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer, and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here.

You would have to closed caption it in Youtube, Youtube has a great feature for this so you should just be able to paste in your script and it will auto populate the CC

Thank you for your quick responses. It would be of great value to have the CC within the Stortyline file. I am being required to use Camtasia because of it's ability to integrate CC within the video file. :(
You should be able to add a slide trigger to the first slide that sets Player.DisplayCaptions=true when the timeline starts. Then publish to video.

It's a video within Storyline published to mp4, correct? I've had success with that scenario as well.
The feature request we are tracking is for any Storyline file to include the captions when publishing to video.
Yes, my test was a local video inserted into Storyline, then CC's added and then published for video.
Shame, I thought you had something there!
I was able to get the CC to work when I published to LMS but could not get CC to display when I published to video.
Any ideas? Does the CC option work when publishing to video?

It seems to work in one limited scenario:
- single slide that has a video with closed captions and then published to video/mp4
Otherwise, the closed captions are not a part of the project file when published to video in any other scenario and that is why we have an open feature request.
Yes, the closed captions work when publishing to LMS.

Any progress on this? I need to be able to have captioning with Storyline videos for my company.

Thank you for reaching out! Just to clarify, are the courses you are working on being published to video (MP4) or is it being published to a different platform (Web, LMS, Articulate Online)? If it is being published to an LMS for example, the closed captions will be a part of the project file when published.
In regards to the feature request about including closed captions when publishing a course to MP4, our team is continuing to look into this at the moment. We will be sure to provide any relevant update here!
