Issue with using trigger for buttons and layers
Hi all, is anyone else noticing an issue when setting up a trigger between a button and layer? For example, the trigger would be, "Show Layer 1 when the user clicks Button 1". When I preview it, I'll click the button, but the layer doesn't appear. This has never happened before and there are no other triggers "competing" with it per se. I'm wondering if it's a glitch in Storyline?

Attach your .story file here, and let someone take a look at it. Or at least, the offending slide.

There is nothing wrong with the layers, nor the triggers. Go to the layer, click the text box, and change its initial state from hidden to Normal.

OMGosh, well now I feel stupid! :D I'm glad it was a simple fix, just totally missed that. Thanks so much, Walt! Appreciate it.

Angie: Don't feel stupid. Feel enlightened. You learned the hard way, but you learned!
Walt: Feel free to copy and paste (and edit, as needed) my boilerplate info when you need it. Here's the full version:
Troubleshooting is just guessing without seeing the .story file. Here are the best practices for uploading that:
- Only include slides that are related to the problem.
- Be sure objects, layers, motion paths, and variables have meaningful names.
- If there is proprietary content, replace or delete it. For example, replace proprietary text with “ipsum lorem” text.
- Be sure to clearly describe the following in the file and/or in the post with the attachment (if you haven’t already done so):
- What you want to happen
- What is not happening that should happen
- What is happening that should not happen
- What you have already tried

Angie,
Don’t feel bad, it took me over an hour to find it. :)
Judy,
Actually, when I need it, I just link to it, but thanks.
