NEW IN RISE 360: Closed Captioning
We’ve just released a powerful new feature in Rise 360: closed captioning. Now you can upload closed caption files to videos to make your content more accessible.
It’s easy to add closed captions to your Rise 360 courses. Just click Edit and select Manage captions in any block that showcases a video. Select the language, and then add your file. You can add as many languages as you like.
We hope you love this helpful new feature!

Glad it's finally here. Thank you!

I was able to upload the file but the captions don't appear

Users have to roll over for the player opens to show. Click on CC and choose the language.
For me this is an issue. I need to have the option that a default Caption language is already showing?
I do not need a single video to have multiple languages, only the one as we publish individual courses per language. At the moment I add Captions in different languages in Camtasia and import the video into Rise with the language subtitles already embedded.
It would be a good option to show a particular language when the video plays?

I am the same. I would like to set a course as a default language and have the cation turned on as default so they can turn it off if they would prefer. I cant have a heap of different languages in one as the activities will not reflect those languages.
Hi Kathy!
Do you see the CC button in the video player? If so, do the captions appear when you click that button and select a language?
If you're still having trouble, please send us your Rise 360 course Share link by clicking here. We'll get you back up and running!

Yes the option for cc appears and the option in Spanish (which is the vtt file I uploaded) but when I play the video, even though the option is selected, the captions do not appear. I have sent a link to the course through your customer service link

Love this new feature - but I have one problem, as I try to upload Norwegian subtitles, we get a big "?" on the special letters, like in the picture: Ø, Æ, Å being the special letters.
Despite having selected Norwegian as a language in Articulate Rise.
In the Webatt text file, the letters display as normal. Anyone able to help here? - KaiSFredriksenCommunity Member
That solved it! It was encoded for ANSI :) Thank you very much

Any plans to be able to add Closed Captions for Embedded video?
- MacKinzieFelderCommunity Member
Hello! I added CC to to my videos for my rise course and published but now when I view the courses, Close Captioning is stuck on "off" and I cannot get it to turn on. Is there some publishing option that may have been added that I need to employ?
Hi Darren — where are your embedded videos hosted? If they are hosted on YouTube or Vimeo, those hosting tools have their own closed captioning features.
Hi Mackenzie — the closed captions button should be enabled as long as you followed these steps. If that's not working for you, would you be willing to send us your course Share link by clicking here?

Hi There,
Yes, the steps were followed and I did share my course by hovering over the course until the dots appeared and clicked "share course," I am happy to do it again, thanks for your help!
Thanks, MacKinzie! I see that our team is working on your case. Quick note - when you reply via email, it includes your email signature with contact information in the public discussion. You can edit it out of the post here if you wish!

I would like to know if CC is coming for embedded videos, too. We are hosting videos on our own company servers and have closed captioning, but it doesn't appear in the embeds, like because our VTT files are sidecars. Even functionality to upload VTT alongside embedded videos would be a helpful first step
Hi Sydney! Thanks for reaching out! There isn't a plan at this time for uploading additional caption files for embedded videos. That being said, I'd like our support engineers to take a look at your specific use case.
Could you please share the .vvt files, and the Rise 360-course file by uploading a case here privately?
