Offline Viewing/Losing Internet Connection

We will be building an assessment within Storyline. Our users sometimes lose internet connection while taking the assessment as some classrooms do not have the best wifi connection. We don't want the users to lose the progress they have made so they do not have to retake the assessment.

Is it possible to save the answers the user selects offline and when the user has an internet connection, submit those answers for further processing?

  • Hi Karrie,

Storyline will need a connection to send data to the LMS, but if your learners lose their connection there's a way to let them know so that they don't keep progressing throughout the course. Take a look at the steps here.

Are there any plans to add a non-flash "check for connection and warn user" feature, in the near future? This would be huge for us.

        Hi Kathy!

I'm happy to help! We don't currently have a similar feature in the HTML5 output, but we have logged a feature request as other authors are looking at this option as well. I'll link this discussion to our feature request so that we can update you if this makes it on our feature roadmap.

  • Hi Karrie and Kathy,

I have some great news to share. We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 69, we’ve included important fixes and new features.

One of the enhancements we've included is:

Notify learners when they lose their internet connection so they don't lose their progress.

To take advantage of this update, launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here.

Please let me know if you need additional help!
