Paste in Place
Hi folks,
There is a shortcut CTRL + SHIFT + D to paste something in the same place. I've tried it on a few things but it's not working. Is it working for anyone else?
I'm working on something where I am pasting things down a timeline and I want it to paste in the exact same place, but by default, it pastes items with an offset.
Thanks.

I contend, there's something wrong with Articulate's cache functionality (at least on Windows). Cache' is what Copy/Paste relies on most. While Snagit certainly can step on A360's shortcuts, I can reproduce this bug without Snagit even running.
BLUF: A360's 'Paste in Place' shortcut key combination (Ctrl + Shift + D) simply fails after just a few attempts. I can usually get it to function again if I close and relaunch Articulate 360. But it eventually fails again. This tells me it's a cache' problem.

Just bumped into this - CTRL-SHIFT-D not working in storyline 360.
As Phil indicated - It was Snagit that had taken that key combo.
Also have to be mindful with Snagit that even when you close the app it may still be running in the background - check the system tray and exit Snagit from there too.

Wow Scott, I wouldnt have thought about that one. Well done on your detective work (Holmes aint got nothing on you!!)
And also thank you so much for coming back to share that nugget of wisdom with the rest of the community. So many times if the solution is found, the OP doesnt come back to post it.
THank you!

No problem at all Hanley. Thanks =)

I believe Snag-it has this issue with a number of apps

Hi again folks. I have found the culprit. When I have Snagit running on my computer, the CTRL+SHIFT+D doesn't work.
This will be an annoying one as I would use Snagit a lot to capture screenshots for students, etc. I'll see if there is a particular setting on Snagit that might fix this. But if the Articulate team are looking, it would be worth investigating for them as well.

Hi! I had the same problem and managed to fix it by changing the keyboard shortcut that used the same keys in SnagIt.
You can make this change in SnagIt's screenshot preferences in the Hotkeys tab. These are the keys for Video Capture - Open and Exit Drawing mode. I changed it to Ctrl+Alt+D.

So that's what it! Thank you for the revelation! I wonder what the technical reason would be for this.

Thank you for sharing! This was happening to me as well!!!!

Phil's point is that hotkeys can be defined elsewhere in the system, and maybe that definition is taking precedence.

Thanks Walt. Yeah it must be. I have tried Storyline 360 on a different computer and the paste in place is working as expected.

ctrl+shift+D works if you are on storyline 360

Yeah, that's what I'm doing. Have tried copying something then ctrl shift D and it does nothing. Using the latest version of articulate 360

And you are on 360 not storyline 3. Have you defined that key combination elsewhere?
It may be time to request support because that is a basic function that should work.

Hey Andrew, I wish I could but it's a work file. I tried a brand new blank file and it's not working. Must be something on my end. I'm going to try Storyline on a different machine later.
Thanks again

Yeah sorry Scott. Ive dug around and even checked to see had I tweaked the Storyline files themselves to "bake in" the change, but no. Its just vanilla SL (32 and 64).
Do you want to try to send me your SL file that isnt working?
If that works for me here then its your SL, if not, then its the file.
Not a solution, but might help save your sanity! ;) - WaltHamiltonSuper Hero
FYI I find that Copy-Paste occasionally introduces corruption, while Duplicate doesn’t. It happens often enough that for me, it is worth moving the object.
To be fair, I don’t really know if Paste-in-place has the same problem.
- PhilMayorSuper Hero
Unless the way duplicate has worked it just runs the copy and paste function so shouldn't be any different

Thanks Walt, I'll keep that in mind. For now I'm using the new-ish timeline visualisation toggle to quickly move my duplicated objects ontop of each other.
