Problems publishing to PDF

Is anyone else having issues publishing Rise courses to PDF at the moment? I've tried multiple times but it just stays on this screen. I've cleared my cache but the same thing is still happening.

  • Hello everyone,

I’m happy to let you know we released a new update for Rise 360. This update fixes the issue you encountered where publishing to PDF could get stuck when a course included an Embed block using an iframe to display a PDF.

There’s nothing to install for web apps. New features and fixes are immediately available, though you may need to refresh the editor window to use the latest version.

Let me know if you have any questions about this update or the issue you reported!

  • Hi BhaveetRadia-27!

Sorry to hear that you're unable to publish from Rise 360 to PDF!

I tested this on my end in Google Chrome and Firefox, but I could not replicate the same issue. Clearing your browser's cache is a smart first step! I'm happy to help troubleshoot further and have some follow-up questions to get us started:

    • Are you able to publish to other formats such as Review 360, or LMS?
    • Have you tested the issue across multiple supported browsers?
    • If possible, does switching to another internet network allow the publication to complete?

Looking forward to hearing from you!

  • Hi BhaveetRadia-27,

I’ve been experiencing the same issue since yesterday. I ran a few tests and it seems to occur specifically when my Rise course contains Embed blocks, especially an embed using an iframe to display a PDF (example below). When I remove these Embed blocks, the PDF export completes successfully.

    <iframe src="https://xxx.pdf#zoom=60&toolbar=0&navpanes=0"></iframe>

This seems to be a recent change, since exporting to PDF worked correctly with these Embed blocks before.

Please let me know if you need any additional details or if there’s anything else I can try on my side.

    Thanks a lot

      Hi ChehemSEICKMOUS!

Sorry to hear that you've run into this setback!

The iframe you shared appears to be invalid, as it did not load when testing on my end. However, I was still able to publish my course, with the Embed Block, to PDF without issues. I also tested with a sample PDF hosted on Google Drive, but had no trouble publishing that either. I used Google Chrome and Firefox in my testing.

Are you experiencing the same issue across multiple supported browsers? Also, does clearing your browser's cache or using an incognito window make an improvement?

If you're still having trouble, our team is happy to review your course and troubleshoot further! You can connect with them here.

  • That's helpful to know – thanks. Mine seems to be working ok now – we use lots of embed blocks so hoping that won't be an issue long term!

  • I'm continuing to have this exact problem. It only affects export to PDF. Export to SCORM and Quickshare are working fine.

Have cleared cache and tried multiple browsers, but it's still not working. This is really causing me inconvenience as providing PDFs to our learners is part of our standard procedure for those learners without steady internet access.

      Hi JasonReimer-ab0!

Sorry to hear you've been unable to publish Rise 360 content to PDF. I understand how frustrating this can feel!

Does the affected course contain any Embed Blocks with iframe codes pointing to a PDF document? I ask because we are tracking a bug in Rise 360, which causes PDF publishing to fail with that type of design.

If not, and you're still having trouble, please connect with our team through a support case. They'd be happy to continue troubleshooting with you!

Yes, they do have embeds, as do nearly all of our courses. Is there any timeline on the bug being fixed? 😄

  • Apologies. I did not read the previous message closely enough. They contain embeds but they are not embeds of PDFs.

      Hi JasonReimer-ab0!

Thanks for clarifying. No apologies necessary!

It's possible something else could be getting in the way, preventing you from publishing from Rise to PDF. I've opened a support case on your behalf, so our support engineers can work with you directly on this issue. I've also sent you an e-mail with steps on how to share a copy of the affected Rise course for testing.

We can continue troubleshooting through your case!

      Hello JasonReimer-ab0

I see that my colleague Ian reached out to you via your case yesterday evening. If you did not receive this email update, please let me know. He sent a PDF-generated version of your course and logged your experience as a bug in our system.

To echo his sentiment, we'll be sure to share future updates on a fix in this thread, so all are in the loop!

  • I am having this same issue. Only effecting a course I desperately need, luckily.
