Prompt to Resume on the Restart Not Working
I need some help here.
I use the classic player to create and publish my courses. It used to work well in the past, but it stopped working recently. The issue comes up when I revisit a URL where I am hosting my course. It will load my course when I visit it for the first time, but on any subsequent visits, I will see a blank screen. The unusual thing is that this problem occurs only on a mobile device but works just fine on a desktop. When I click on the URL where the course is hosted, let 1 or 2 slides load, and then refresh the page, I will see a blank screen without a prompt to resume or restart. This wasn't the case before, and my old courses are still working fine. This has occurred after the recent articulate update around September last year. Everything before that works just fine.
I tried switching to a modern player, and the issue didn't occur, but now I can't switch to a modern player for my courses currently as that will be a big change and not feasible for now.
I have tried the setting below without any success:
Player settings to restart:
Slide settings too:
Does anyone know what might be causing this. I published the web version and hosted it externally.
And I use Storyline 360 for all development and publishing.
I apologize for the misleading answer earlier. I was using the modern player, but after reading your post again, I’ve just realized that the issue occurs with the classic player. I can confirm the same issue happens when the classic player is used instead. The 'Prompt to Resume' will only appear if the Desktop view is checked on a mobile device, which I don’t consider a viable solution. However, by adding or modifying a single line of CSS in story.html, I can get the 'Prompt to Resume' window with the Continue and Restart buttons, as shown in the screenshot. I honestly can’t recall how this prompt should look in the classic player, but I was able to properly continue where I left off or restart as intended. I would recommend reaching out to Articulate support so they can at least log this as a potential bug or similar issue.

I’d first ensure that Storyline is updated to the latest version (v3.96.33815.0). If everything worked fine at some point, the issue you’re encountering might have been fixed in the latest version. I just uploaded a web package to Google Cloud and verified that the 'Prompt to Resume or Restart' feature works as expected on mobile devices.

NedimThanks for your response. I am actually on the latest version, the January 21, 2025 update. I upload my web packages to AWS. Would you know anything else I need to check out for? Also, did you use the classic player or the modern player?

Thanks Nedim
Thanks for spending your time to test the issue again. Would you please let me know which line was or needs to be modified? That may give me a better idea. Also you may share the exact story.html file that you have used, as long as you comment that part. I can copy from there. I can use that fix in the meantime as I await articulate support to respond. A member of my team has already contacted them about the same problem.

Please find the attached .story file. It contains 5 simple slides with slide titles. What you need to do is edit the story.html file after it’s published. I’ve left a note for you on slide 1, indicating which line needs to be edited before uploading the folder to your website. Let me know if this works for you or if you need further assistance.
Edited:
My zipped file didn’t go through. I’ve attached a new .story file for you to publish to the web, then download the zipped file. After extracting it, please check the story.html for reference.

Nedim Thanks for sharing the .story file. Unfortunately, I can't access the zipped file because it is linked to your local computer. I published the file but couldn't access the link you attached. The link starts with C:\\Users...which can't be accessed by someone else apart from you. Would you please upload the zip file to my Dropbox here? https://www.dropbox.com/request/c5cTe0l6ttf7LBtyBDvf
I have created a share request for you. That would be really helpful.

I am glad it worked for you! Would you please do me a favor and mark my reply as a Solution?
Click the X on the "Marked As Solution" button on your post.
That will deselect that reply as the solution. Then go to my reply, and click to mark that as the solution. Thank you JudyNollet
Thank you, Erastus
