Scrubbing the timeline : actual view ?
Hello,
I think it would be great if you could scrub the timeline in Storyline.
Being used to Flash, I find having all object at once confusing (and actually I don't see the point apart from a visual mess).
The problem is you can't see what you actullay get under playhead unless you play your scene.
Could you consider having a mode where you only see on stage what's under the playhead ? I recently had a busy timeline with many speech bubbles and I spend my time hiding/unhiding layer to get everything in place.
What do you think ?

Any good news or new workaround on this issue?

Hi Manoel,
We don’t have plans on our roadmap for the ability to scrub the timeline right now, but we appreciate you letting us know this is important to you!
We’ll update this discussion if our plans change in the future.

After 6 years...
Looks like the majority of SL users never used software where you can scrub timeline otherwise this would be very high on their wish-list.
I still avoid syncing elements as much as I can in SL because it's a real nightmare.

Here we are 2 years later and it seems we still can't scrub the timeline. Surely this is working its way up the list?

Another vote for scrubbing the timeline. Where's the feature request list? I want to add a 'like' to the existing request - if this list doesn't exist, maybe it should? Would be great for the community to vote for the features they see as important.

...and yes, I've added a feature request - for a better feature request system ;-)
The community needs to be able to see the existing feature requests, and vote on them. - MaxRickettsCommunity Member
I have to say - as someone who also previously used products like Flash and Premiere Pro, this seemed like a really big deal around the time I started out with Storyline a couple years ago. After a bit of time, though, it stopped being something I focused on and eventually I forgot about it completely (except for when I receive notifications about this thread - ha ha).
There would still be some value in being able to work that way - but enough value for the developers to work on what would have to be a very complicated and time-intensive build? It would also further complicate a product that benefits from its simplicity and similarity to PowerPoint. At this point, I can see why it hasn't made the roadmap.
My 2 cents 2 years later!

Surprised that you've used products with scrubbable timelines but don't miss in SL360.
Certainly for less sophisticated work, the status quo is...serviceable...but little more.

It's not that I don't miss the feature or wouldn't be grateful for it...it genuinely bothered me for a while. I guess I've just built so many courses since then that I've gotten used to it (for better or worse - ha ha).
My reply was more about Articulate's likely position on the feature and why it still hasn't made the cut. I do think that it's safe to say plenty of great work has been produced with Storyline, and your comment about it being little more than serviceable for less sophisticated work is potentially OTT!
My own deleted post from about 2 years ago above was indeed rather scathing. So despite these reflections I do understand how you feel :)

7 years and still no scrubbing...

It's here at last (8 years waiting for this to happen...)!
Great news, awesome feature.
Too bad it's not activated by default, users might miss it.
