Storyline vs Rise: Accessibility and engagement with low-tech workers
Hi, I'd like to hear your thoughts! I usually prefer Storyline for its flexibility and customisation, but I’m wondering if I should use Rise more.
About 80% of our workforce are older, blue-collar workers with low tech skills, so we rely on Storyline's customisation to provide clear, indepth navigation instructions. The downside is its poor mobile compatibility, which affects training completion rates.
I’m weighing up whether mobile access or detailed guidance is more important. As someone tech-savvy, it's hard to gauge if our workforce is ready for a more intuitive platform like Rise or if that would reduce accessibility.
We’re gathering internal feedback, but has anyone had positive or negative experiences shifting from Storyline to Rise?

Interesting question. I believe that the output created by Rise is more designed for the end user who is comfortable with navigating digital content. If your audience is less inclined or uncomfortable with digital delivery, Storyline may be the better choice, since you can easily add audio and visual cues and tips for navigation.

It sounds like mobile access would lead to higher completion rates. So I suggest using Rise.
Ideally, it'd be great if you could do some focus-group testing to see how those with "low tech skills" handle (or can't handle) the standard Rise interactions.
Then, as needed, include a text box above each interaction to explain how to get through it.
