Types of Video Files Compatible in Rise

Hi! I am having a hard time finding information on the types of videos available to upload in Rise. I am looking at a video software and want to make sure before we get it that I can put it in our Rise courses.

I know you can upload .mp4 videos to Rise, but can you upload .MOV , AVI , or .WMV files as well?

Thank you

    Hi There,

I just uploaded a short course into my own online articulate drive but now I want to use it in a RISE course. How can I do this?

Hello Dominic! Did you publish a Storyline 360 course to Review 360? If so, you can use a Storyline block to add that interaction to your Rise 360 course. Here's how.

If that's not quite right, let me know which app you used to build your short course, and we'll go from there!

        Hi there,

Thanks for the reply but I cant seem to get it to work. I have published the course to review 360, and I can see it there. But when I go to add the Storyline Block, it says I have not published any courses yet.

Can you let me know I can resolve this please?

        Cheers,

        Dominic

  • Hi Dominic,

It sounds like you may be logged in to your Articulate 360 desktop app and the web apps with two different email addresses.

    Let's try this:

    • Log out of the the Articulate 360 desktop app by clicking your profile icon and selecting Sign Out. Here's a screenshot of what I mean.
    • Log out of 360.articulate.com by clicking the same icon in the upper-right corner and selecting Sign Out.
    • Log back into both the desktop app and 360.articulate.com with the same email address.
    • Republish the Storyline 360 course to Review 360, and you should see the course appear correctly in Review 360.

Let me know how it goes!

      Hi there,

Unfortunately, it is still not working for me. I have attached two screen shots which show the course in Review and the screen shot when I try to link to it in Rise.

Hi there, Dominic. When you reply via email, your attachments don't come through. Can you attach your screenshots in the discussion here? If you'd like to keep it private, you can start a case with our team here instead.

        Thanks!

    Hi Crystal,

Thanks for the reply. I have attached the images. As stated earlier, I have published a course, logged in with the same email but cannot see it in RISE to import it.

That was really helpful, Dominic! I can see from your Review 360 dashboard that you published Presenter 360 courses using a PowerPoint presentation. We'll actually need to import those presentations into Storyline 360 to use them in your Rise 360 course. Here's how:

      • Open Storyline 360, and choose to Import. You can choose this presentation from your saved files. Tip: You may need to adjust your slide size in Storyline to make sure it matches your PowerPoint slide size.
      • Preview your presentation in Storyline to make sure it still looks the way you want.
      • Publish your presentation to Review 360 from Storyline.
      • When you add your Storyline block in Rise 360, you should now be able to select that presentation.

Let me know if you hit any bumps!

  • Hi - I'm experiencing issues trying to add a .mov file 575MB in size. I'm receiving the attached error message. I've tried to add/remove multiple times and keep getting the same error. Help! :)

Hi there, Sarah. Typically, deleting the block and adding a new video block for that file will solve the issue. If it's still not working, please privately share your video file with us by clicking here. We'll work you to get it up and running!

I tried all the suggestions above to upload a 1.9GB .MOV file and got the error message every way I tried it. Then I saved the same video as .m4v and it uploaded and played right away. Rise definitely doesn't support .MOV or it's buggy.

  • So, my marketing department is starting to reach out to me for help building courses.  I can't tell you how much I adore being part of this community - it makes me look much smarter and more experienced than I really am!! Looking forward to some cool new projects!

Thanks for the kind words, Amy! I'm so glad you're getting value out of E-Learning Heroes.

  • hello there,

I have a big problem using rise. I di upload a video.mp4. it works well in the preview mode but it does not work anymore after export in web mode. I really don't know what to do... any idea ?

  • Hi Thomas,

    Could you try the following:

    • Exporting again for web and uploading a fresh version of the course.
    • Creating a duplicate and exporting again for web.
    • Reuploading the video to that course and deleting the original block and exporting again for web.

If these steps don't resolve the issue, I would suggest opening up a case with us and sharing a copy of your course so we can investigate further.
  • Hi, I'm trying to add a .wmv video file in Rise 360, but it seems incompatible. Could you please confirm which video formats are compatible?
