Memory Issues

Jun 01, 2012

Hi,

I download the trial version of Storyline. For me, the best way to play with it is to import existing files created in PowerPoint, Quizmaker or Engage but each time I try, Storyline either hangs or I get an out of memory message. Is this an issue do you know?

Can you provide more detail?

For example, import just PowerPoint. What happens?

Import just QM. What happens?

I had an issue during beta testing on some PPT imports. It had to do with PPT not eing registered properly.  This worked for me.

  1. Runthe command line with admin privileges ( Start -> All Programs->Accessories-> Right click Command Prompt -> Run as administrator.
  2. Typethis in the command prompt : “[path where microsoftpowerpoint is installed]\POWERPNT.exe” /regserver
  3. (e.g. :“c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\POWERPNT.EXE” /regserver )
  4. Afterrunning this, the office setup will run. Let it finish.
  5. OpenStoryline and try importing the problem powerpoint file.

This worked for me, but may not be related to your issue. Yo can provide more detail or do a Screenr so we can see what's happening. Otherwise contact our support group and they can help.

i have used a program called ntcore that converts the 32 bit exe to allow it to take advantage of 4 gigs of ram.  i am sure this is in no way support by articulate by it has worked amazing.  before the program always crashed when it hit 900 mb ram.  i have had it hit as high as 1.8 gigs usage without crashing (yet).

keep in mind, this will only work if you have x64 windows.

Hi, thanks for your replies. I had just downloaded the trial version of Storyline when I started having significant computer problems. It took about a month to determine it was the motherboard and by that time the trial had finished so I never got back to Storyline. I will however, keep your replies in mind if I do decide in future to purchase Storyline.
