Black Box on iOS Devices

Jan 13, 2021

In creating RISE content with embedded Storylines, every SL shows up in iOS devices as a black box with a play button instead of the correct functionality as it was built and displays in Review 360.  Articulate courses are supposed to work across most browsers.  This is a huge problem for us.  What is a fix for this?

Hi David,

Learners will see Storyline blocks when they view your Rise course on desktop and laptop computers. When learners view a course from a mobile device, they will see a play button over Storyline blocks. Tapping the play button will allow the Storyline content to display. You can read more on that here.

Learners will also see the start button on iOS devices. Adam shares a bit more information on why you'll see that button in this discussion

There isn't a way to change this within Rise or Storyline. That being said, there are some unofficial workarounds and fixes that have been shared by the community in this thread.

If this functionality changes in the future, we'll let you know!

I have been asking for a different look to this for a couple of years now. We should have the option of adding some kind of image behind the play button overlay to provide a more seamless integration of the Storyline blocks within Rise. The current look of this black box is unattractive. It should be similar to being able to add a poster frame to a video. How difficult would this be to implement?
