Do these settings options exist?

Jun 13, 2023

Is there a setting option to make the button stack links open in a new tab or window? When going through the articulate course in our learning management system, some users lose the articulate course when clicking the links because it opens the link in the current tab. Users then have to navigate back to our LMS website and launch the course again to pick back up where they left off. This issue does not exist for all users, and is mitigated if they right-click to open in a new tab/window, but my team was wondering if a setting exists to make that the default.

Also, after answering questions in a Quiz Lesson, is it possible to implement some kind of timed delay before the 'Next' button appears to move on to the next question? My team wants to encourage users to read the Feedback note after answering a question, and was wondering if this kind of setting exists to give users a pause before continuing on with the Quiz.

Thanks for your help!!

Hi Christina,

Button stacks open links in a new tab by default.  If you use the Inspect tool of your browser to check on the button block, it already has the attribute target="_blank."   This instructs the browser to pull up a new tab when clicking on the link (as shown below):

target blank

If this is only happening to some of your students, they may need to check their browsers for extensions that may be forcing this behavior of opening in the same tab.  They may also need to check with their IT team if somehow they may be enforcing a network policy to force links to open in the same tab.

Regarding your second question, we don't have a way to delay the Next button from appearing before it can move on to the next question.  We can leave it up to the community for suggestions on how to make sure your students will read the feedback.
