Serif font issue in Asian languages in Articulate RISE

Jan 04, 2024

I was working on Japanese and Chinese rise courses, which has both 'Serif' and 'Sans Serif' fonts used in throughout the courses. Like 'Serif' for all headings + menu and 'Sans Serif' for body text.

I want to reflect the same font style appearance in my Japanese and Chinese courses as per the English course, but I realized that maybe Articulate RISE don't support 'Serif' font style in Asian languages?

If that's a bug, then I would like to request feature request.

Here are the things that I tried:

  • I created custom fonts for both Serif and Sans Serif styles.
  • The custom fonts I used are Google free fonts, which are Noto Serif and Noto Sans Serif fonts.
  • Converted all TTF fonts to WOFF and uploaded in Theme > Fonts
  • Noto Sans Serif does reflect the proper 'Sans Serif' look but Noto Serif won’t.
  • All 'Serif' font appear in 'Sans Serif' only
  • Tried Adobe Serif fonts of Japanese and Chinese but same issue.

I have attached screenshot of all three course for reference here

Hi Robin!

It sounds like you've hit a snag when working with custom fonts in Rise 360. Happy to help with this!

Thanks for those screenshots! To be sure I'm understanding correctly, are the fonts in your Rise course appearing inconsistently when you view the course in Articulate Review?

If so, would you mind sending me the Articulate Review "Share" link? Also, which web browser were you using when you noticed this?

Looking forward to hearing from you!
