Carousel Interaction

It would be helpful if the description includes the version number of the interaction (in this case 1.6) to see if it is a updated version.

I downloaded this interaction and never received a .artkpkg file. The files I received are: Carousel Flash Movie icon PNG image package XML document smallicon PNG image template Articulate Engage (This doesn't work when opened, it shows the normal step interaction, not this cool one) thumb PNG image Does anyone know why I can't pull this up as an interaction and edit it? I couldn't find Dave's contact info.

Hi Annette, I apologize for the issues that you're having.  If you download a community interaction, you may find that the file downloads with the extension .artpkg.zip. To install a community interaction the extension needs to be .artpkg. To update the .artpkg.zip file you simply need to remove the .zip from the file name. www.articulate.com/.../kb

Thank you so much for your quick reply , I tried your suggestion and I am still not receiveing an .artpkg or artpkg.zip file. I currently have all the files moved out of the .zip.

Hi Annette, Try this: 1.  Scroll up to the top & right click the "Download this file" button 2.  In the "Save as Type" section, select All Files 3.  In the filename, make sure it says Carousel.artpkg instead of Carousel.zip 4.  Save it Now, when you double-click the file, it should install.  However, if it doesn't, it's likely due to the version of Engage that you have installed.  You'll want to make sure you're using the latest version of Engage:  www.articulate.com/.../studio-09-update-3-released-now-with-engage-09-community-interactions

I am having problems changing the colors in my Carousel project.  No matter what I change the Interaction Properties to, the output displays the same gray color.  Any ideas?

Carolyn, Have you ever gotten a response from this question? I had no trouble changing the color. I am using the latest version of Engage and PPT 2007. Could there be a version problem for you?

I'm using PPT 2010.  I am using the latest version of Engage.  Still can't change the colors.

I love, love, love this interaction. I am actually using it for a fun picture slideshow as a "teaser" to build excitement before our company meeting. Quick question- IS there a way to make the text box/content area much smaller so the picture is more of the focus??

Thanks so much for this! I have quick question, on the slide in which i use this interaction, i have a video playing in the presenter panel on the left (which is 1:47 long) and have 3 objects used in the carousel. Now when the slide begins (and the video automatically starts), if i click through all three images, the slides comes to an end and the video stops. Is there a way i can have the video play for the entire 1.47 ? Thanks in advance

I have been trying to load this interaction and can not get the zip to open. I get the following message. Error Central Directory not Found. Can someone send me a good file to download? I really want to use this interaction in a course I am working on. Thanks!!

@Osman Javaid I tested this and could **not** reproduce the issue you described. A video inserted into the Presenter panel should play independently of any slide  unless there's actionscript code inside the inserted movie that is in conflict with the Presenter player. Please read over the information in the following link, as this might help explain this theory a bit more. www.articulate.com/.../kb

Help -- I am trying to extract the Carousel Artpkg from a zip file download from Built by Burton.  When I try to extract the file the following message appears.  The file is grayedout in the zip window.  I need to get the update to the interaction because I continue to get a no media error for some of my images.  Please help -- Thank you! Hi, I recently used this template for a project and wanted to know if it is possible to remove the Tooltip that appear at the top of the thumbnail images. Is there any option to disable it? Regards, Aditya

@Alice, Please download the file again. It would appear the file you originally downloaded was not complete. Please make sure to Save the file to your Desktop when given the option and allow the download to complete in full before extracting the contents. I hope this helps!

@David I am still unable to download the file that works.   It only takes a few seconds to download and then I get the download complete button. It take a few second. I get the zip but can extract 475Kb Artpkg file inside. I really need this -- could you email it to me.

I love this interaction.  This is the second time I am using this and this time I need to know exactly what the recommended dimensions are for the images in the carousel.  Thank you.

Lori, Since the rotating image thumbnails are in square dimensions, a square image would be ideal for this interaction. I wouldn't go any less than 128x128 pixels as this is the actual size for the image placeholder. David, I tried 130 by 128 but I still can see the white background around the edges of my image.  I'd like to get rid of that if I could. I'm trying a different color scheme from the black/gray  that I used before.   I can send a screenshot if that would help.  And thanks in advance for any advice.

Lori, A screenshot would be helpful, however, when adjusting image size, my comments and dimensions noted above are to be applied to the image prior to inserting into Engage. The Carousel does not center or crop images, but instead will scale the inserted image according to the dimensions you enter. So if you were to open your image in Microsoft Paint or any third part image editor, you would have to get rid of the white edges that are part of the image from there, by cropping the image. If you crop the image uniformly (500x500, 1000x1000, or any square dimension in between) , when inserted into the Carousel interaction, the image will be centered and scaled automatically for you. I hope this helps!

Hi all, I would like my images to show with transparent backgrounds.  I have the images saved that way, but I can't get them to appear that way in this interaction. Any ideas? Thanks
