Storyline: Digital Magazine-Inspired Template

Ever toyed with the idea of making optional learning experiences feel a bit more inviting — like a visually arresting, media-rich digital magazine? This magazine-inspired template may be just what you're looking for.

I found inspiration for the menu layout and color palette for my design from this beautiful example from Pinterest. My Storyline version offers a similarly striking white, red-orange, and charcoal color palette with several different layouts to help you creatively present text, images, audio, and video.

I created this template entirely in Storyline so you can easily modify all of the colors and texts to suit your needs. This template also features a few free icons from freepik.com, 4 free stock photo images from Unsplash, and the free Google fonts Crete Round and Dosis.

Hi Pam. Thanks for downloading my template. I'm so glad you like it! I'm not sure we have many templates that are specifically finance-themed, although now you've inspired me to make one! Everything about this template is easily customizable so I think if you sourced some photographic images that are vaguely financial or business-oriented in nature, you could quickly replace the people images with something that's more appropriate for your topic. I've written a number of articles on how to transform templates (I've called them 10-Minute Template Transformations: https://community.articulate.com/series/10-minute-template-transformations). Hi Trina! In summary, this is an elegant template and you are an artist. Thanks for sharing it. I am new to Storyline. I tried to change the original images with other images that have different dimensions. I played with the new image dimensions (which are smaller than your images) to be fit with the framework and they look great. However, when I click the new images (visited) the color changes properly but the image size also changes to the size that was uploaded initially, in other words, the images shrink! Do you know how I can solve this issue? Thanks in advance!

Hi Ali. Thanks for your kind words! I'm so glad to hear that you're making good use of this template. As for the changes in image size that you're experiencing on the visited state, you might want to try right-clicking on your new image and manually adjusting the size with the Size & Position menu option (you'll just need to know the pixel dimensions you're looking for). Once you've got the image re-sized on each state, you can use Storyline's format painter to apply those changes to the other objects. If you still need some more help to achieve the right effect, don't hesitate to post any questions in the Storyline forum. We'll be happy to jump in and help out!

Hi Trina. Thanks for the information. I changed the size of the image and it seems to be ok. However, when I click on an image, it isn't switched to a recolor one (The one with Accent color 6 Dark). Similar to your template, In order to change the color of an image by clicking on it (or by clicking on "+" sign on that image) should I use triggers? I tried the triggers but I couldn't find an option to change the state of an image to a Recolor one. Thanks in advance!

Hey Ali. Recoloring an image isn't part of Storyline's state options, but you can easily darken or recolor any image you're using on a state in Storyline. Here's how: simply go to the States tab and select "Edit States." Select the specific state you want to edit and then click on the image you'd like to recolor. With that image selected you should see the Format menu appear with options for altering the image's brightness, contrast, and recoloring the image. Again, hope this helps you out!
