Automatically Sync Engage Slides in Presentation for Publish

Jun 26, 2014

I prefer the performance of using Engage outside of my PPT because I don't like waiting for the switch back and forth between products. I publish my interaction to my PPT and edit the interaction outside of PPT.

When I publish my presentation, the content of the initial interaction is rendered instead of my most updated content on the disk. I would like the publishing process to automatically update all interactions with the latest copies in my project when I click publish. Is there a setting I can use to make this happen rather than manually republishing my interactions each time?

Hi Mark,

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes!

I'm afraid not - if you modify the interaction after it's already been inserted into PowerPoint, it may not always reflect the changes made.

I'd recommend waiting until your interaction is ready, then insert it into PowerPoint. Or you can simply re-insert after any updates and bypass the publish method.

If you still aren't seeing updates to the files, however, I'd make sure you're working with local presentation and interaction files.

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names (this includes spaces and underscores).

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

In the meantime, if you'd like to see more options for publishing interactions to PowerPoint/Presenter, I'd recommend sharing a suggestion with our product development team.

Best,

Christine
