How to republish just one Articulate slide within a presentation?

Feb 20, 2013

Hello, I've built a rather large Articulate course (mix of Engage, Presenter and Quiz slides). I've published this and moved my files to another folder - as I use different machines within my workplace.

When I try to update just a few of the Engage slides and republish, Articulate tries to 'find' the other Engage files  that I don't need to update and a message appears saying the files can't be found- so this means I would need to find each one in my new folder and reupload and then publish.

Can you tell me if this is the only approach I can take (it will take a long time?). Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Susan

Hi Susan,

As far as I remember, this is the only way to "re-associate" the Engage files, as they are separate entities that need to be linked into the .ppta file.

The solution(I think...), is to create an Articulate "Package" which bundles everything together for moving when you start, however, I am not completely sure.

I think in your current place, the only thing to do is re-associate.

Hi Susan,

Bruce is right   Having moved the files already the only way to reset the links is to browse to each quiz and interaction individually. The links between PPT and Engage/QM are absolute links to the original file locations and even if you haven't edited them the files have moved so the original links are no longer valid.

One thing to bear in mind is that when you publish the course it should be from a local drive (C otherwise you run the risk of some corruption in the published output.

If you do need to move the files the suggestion of an Articulate Package is a good one. The package will wrap up the course and zip it so that when you unzip at the other end the links are automatically reset. Just be aware that if you do this multiple times to the same project the accuracy of this process can be reduced. One tool that can help you with this is a little add-in to PPT called Project Beacon from Built By Burton, found here http://www.builtbyburton.com/?p=552  There's an explanation of the process and reason behind it on the website.

Cheers
