Problems using Engage

Jul 10, 2015

I can not start Engage from within Powerpoint.  When I try to create a new Engage interaction, I receive the following message:  Error: Unable to create an instance of Articulate Engage.  I can start Engage independent from within Powerpoint and create the interaction and insert it into the Powerpoint presentation but if I try to edit it later from within Powerpoint, I receive the following message:  Automation error in AP5.frmProgressModal.Form_Activate at line 0

If I try to Import an Engage interaction into Storyline 2 I receive the error message that Engage Not Installed To import an Engage interaction, you must must have Engage installed on this system -
very frustrating as it is installed.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Hi Randy,

I'm sorry to hear about the issue you've run into.  You may see this error when adding an interaction to an Articulate Presenter '13 course:

Unable to create an instance of Articulate Engage.

Here's how to fix it:

  1. Repair Articulate Studio '13.
  2. Verify that the Articulate add-ins are properly enabled in PowerPoint.

Please let us know if you're able to go through those steps and still having difficulty.

Hello - I have articulate engage on my computer. I am having trouble saving the Engage interaction and uploading it into the PowerPoint presentation.

I've followed the trouble shooting options in the Power Point options. I am able to open an Engage interactions and make changes, but it will not let me "save as" or "save" to desktop. Can you help with this?

Hi there, Jessie. Happy to help!

When building in Presenter, there is an option to edit in Engage and then Save and return to Presenter. You're spot-on that the Save as and Save options are greyed out in Engage – this is to only update the Presenter version. Here's a quick Peek 360 recording of the Save and Return to Presenter button on the Engage 360 ribbon in action.

Please let me know how you go after those steps!
