Why are my links broken?

Apr 21, 2011

Hi all,

I've got this issue where, I move some files around or update an Engage presentation independently and then I try to open it from Presenter.  Presenter asks me to locate the engage file and I do, and presenter opens it.

The problems comes after I've finished working with the engage file, I click "preview" and my links don't work correctly.

The effect is as if the entire line of the link behaves as a link and I can click anywhere along it and the link will open.

Can anyone help?

Hi Tom

If you rename outside powerpoint then the ppta link is broken so all the links to your files are broken.  If you move the files externally again the links are broken.

The links are absolute links not relative so if you want to move the file you need create a articulate package, and if you want to rename it is best to do it as save as: which will create a ppta with all your settings

If this happens everytime you open, without a rename or move then something else is up

Thanks for the replies guys.

But my issues is none of these.

Essentially, the link is "bigger" than the text that was highlighted to be the link.

For example, let's pretend I have a sentence and one word in it I highlighted and made into a link (to another step in the engage process).  The entire line in which the word is located (not sentence) becomes a link.  The mouse changes into a little hand and the entire line, not just the word functions as a link.

Hi Tom,

I would suggest you submit a case by following the steps below.

Please create an Articulate Presenter package, then upload the zip file to our server. You can review how to do this here:

Upload the resulting zip file from your computer to our server using this upload form:
