A solution when Presenter doesn't work
Jun 27, 2011
(I apologize if this solution is already ont his forum somewhere, but I couldn't find it. I found it on another website.)
Have you installed Articulate and when you open Powerpoint, then click on the Articulate tab, every single button on the tab does nothing? You can click the button, but no actions result?
have you re-installed articulate about 12 times? now have you already tried going into PPT options and making sure the add-ins have the proper permissions set? And you've made sure nothing is disabled? and Articulate is part of your trusted applications?
And now it still doesn't work? I had that problem as well. I did everything I found in this forum and elsewhere (except uninstalling Office) and nothing worked. It turned out the problem was with the Visual basic being available to Powerpoint.
Here is the fix
First, Close Powerpoint
Go into Control Panel
Click Add or remove progams
Click to hilight Microsoft Office, then click Change
Click Add or remove features
That should take you to a screen for installation options.
Now you should find a list of the MS Office programs. Under each of these are features unique to that program. There is also an option called Office Share Features (You'll want to click the Shared Features)
Now click Visual Basic for Applications
you should get a drop down menu you'll want to choose Run from my computer (or Run from this computer)
Click continue, when that setup is done, restart Powerpoint and it should ask you for your articualte license number. after you get through the registration process everythign should work.
At least it worked for me...(by the way I am running XP with Office 2007)

Thanks for posting this, James. It's also documented here:

Ok - what happens if this doesn't fix the problem?
I am having the response you mentioned - or lack there of, but Visual Basic for Applications was already there - I went ahead and re-installed it but when I re-opened PPT, and clicked on the Articulate Ribbon add in - the buttons and options do not respond.
Help please.
Update - so I did a repair of my Articulate 09 installation - and it worked. Yay!!
I'm not sure on that Allison.
have you tried going into PPT options and making sure Articulate in enabled as an Add-In???
Hi Allison,
This article should help you out:

Thanks so much for your responses. Justin, the problem was, even any of the articulate menu drop-downs didn't work. Like even clicking on support. Very odd. And to answer James - yes, I did check the add-ins and it was there.
I have to say, the repair option from control panel, add remove programs, articulate 09 Studio - really did the trick. It is working now.
Again, thank you for your input. It is great to know we have such a supportive community and very quick responding. I have never had so many helpful people respond so quickly.
Thanks and I hope I can repay the efforts in the future.
Please help me!
After I try reinstall Office 2010 (32bit) and Articulate Studio-09-Update-7.exe or Studio-09-Update-8.exe many times
The Articulate ribbons still doesn't respond
When open Powerpoint, it always show this:
if No then
(Quiz, Engage, Video Encoder work normally)
Finally I must reinstall Windows
Sorry for the trouble, Nghi. Sounds like you tried everything in this article. Is your installation of Presenter working now?
