I got a prompt to update Studio 13 when I opened an Engage file; I have seen this before but did not do it for fear of disruption.
Against my better judgement, I decided to do the update this time in the hope that it might eliminate some other problems we are experiencing.
The update went OK, usual stuff about re-entering serial number etc (why??!!), until I re-opened the Presenter file that I was working on. The Articulate ribbon appears, but none of the functions will respond. When I click on one, the little ring flashes for 1/2 a second and that's all.

Uninstalling the complete Studio 13 suite and downloading and installing it again has - it seems so far - solved the problem!
