"Buggy" Issues

Sep 15, 2011

I wanted to see if anyone else has found a fix or has any other recommendations for some of the "buggy" issues I've been having.  I'm on Windows 7 and Powerpoint 2010.  Using Presenter for just a few months now.

Issue #1 - I will sync animations on slides, publish, and then find that 10% or so of the slides didn't get synced, even though they were all treated in the same manner.  I'll go through, sync those that weren't correctly synced again and publish, only to find that again some of those got synced correctly, while others still aren't.

In the end, I found that the most "surefire" method to ensure correct syncing is to sync "one at a time", save/close the sync window, then repeat that process for each slide.  I wrote to support and they directed me to a link which discusses a "known issue" with Presenter syncing issues, especially if you try to "play" the sync while still in the sync window.  Is this just an issue that comes with the program,or should I re-install Presenter...or what?

It's obviously very frustrating to sit through multiple already-synced slides, trying to re-sync them, only to find that it didn't stick once again, doing it over, and keeping fingers crossed that "this time" it will work.  When each presentation is running some 70 slides or so, it's significantly adding to my proofing/editing time.

Issue #2 - I will import audio into my Engage interactions, same quality for all tracks (16 bit, mono, 44K).  I want higher quality sound, so I set "Quality" to "CD-ROM".  In a presentation which includes 12 Engage interactions, half will publish at what is obviously the "Web" quality, while the other half will publish at what is obviously a much clearer "CD-ROM" quality.  This is despite the fact that all are at the same setting throughout, both within Engage and Presenter.  For one presentation, I literally had to open each of the Engage interactions which weren't publishing correctly, uncheck the "CD" quality, check "Web", close....then open again, and re-check "CD" quality before it would stick.

I feel like "Fonzie" hitting the jukebox with these things. If these are known issues (and someone from Articulate responds), is this something that has been worked out in the upcoming newer version?

Hi Timothy,

You shouldn't be experiencing any of the issues that you're describing.  I looked in our support system and I wasn't able to find the support case that you submitted.  Can you try the solution in the link below & then submit another support case to us if you continue to have issues?

Thanks Brian.  I think I'm going to try the re-install.  There is yet another "bug" that I ignored the other day, but it's coming up again.

The other issue now is that occasionally one of the "Guided Image" labels in an Engage interaction will get hung up.  In other words, I have it set to auto run, and everything will be playing fine, then when it gets to one particular label, that label will run with audio as expected, but then freezes and it doesn't auto advance to the next label.  This happened the other day, and now again on another Engage presentation as I've just been informed by an employee here who is watching the presentation as we speak.

The only way I found to "fix" it is to go in, delete the audio, save/close, then re-open, re-add the audio, then save/close.

At least I'm glad to hear that none of this is supposed to or expected to happen.  I'll try the re-install.  Thanks.

Tim

Hi Tim,

Regarding your interaction issue, if an Engage interaction with audio in the last step does not advance as expected to the next slide in a Presenter presentation, you may be experiencing a corrupt time code in your interaction.  Please review the following article for solutions:

The solution is very similar to what you're already doing, but it may save you a few steps.
