Changing quality settings no longer affects output

Jan 31, 2012

Hi all,

I've more or less completed a project and am having difficulty getting the quality settings to stick. The 55 slides produce 155 MB upon local publication, so I wanted to experiment with the quality settings. Changing the settings under Presentation Options > Quality is for some reason not affecting the published output when I publish locally (Publish > CD). At some point while publishing earlier, the presentations had no sound. I had experienced this earlier and found the solution, so I renamed the *-old.ppta as I had before. Without having conducted an extensive check, there seems since then nothing else wrong. Perhaps this affected the ability to change quality settings.

Since each publication takes about 10 minutes, I removed all but 7 slides and experimented with that reduced version, but there still are no changes. The lack of quality change is also present in this version. For example:

Publication 1

Presentation options: Optimize for CD-ROM Delivery

Size of output directory: 12.8 MB (13,517,475 bytes)

Publication 2

Presentation options: Lossy, Quality factor 10, Resize factor 0.5, Audio bitrate 16kbps

Size of output directory: 12.8 MB (13,517,501 bytes)

Optically and audibly, I cannot distinguish between the two versions. Choosing "Optimize for Web Delivery" or other customized settings also doesn't change the quality. It seems then that the publication quality settings are stuck on CD quality. (As a side note, Presenter does remember what changes I make in the Presentation Options > Quality dialogue.)

What should I try next?

Thanks,

Mike

Hey Mike!

I'd recommend sending us your files so our support engineers can take a closer look. They'd be happy to work with you to pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution. If you'd like to do that, please create an Articulate Presenter package, then upload the zip file to our server. You can review how to do this here:
