Can't convert Presenter 9 webinars to Presenter 13

Dec 09, 2013

We have a website that's been up for about five years with 14 webinars published using Presenter '09 (www.export-u2.com). We just purchased the new Presenter 13 software, with the intention of updating all of these so they will play on mobile devices. Unfortunately, once my existing PowerPoints have been opened with the new software, they will not publish or preview. Most often, they don't even get through a single slide before the progress bar locks up. This is a big issue for us, as we have set aside the next two weeks for the updates. Is anyone else having this problem? Does anyone know of a fix?

Thanks,

Hi there Robert,

Sorry to hear about the trouble with this! I am happy to hear that it's publishing for you now, though.

If you do run into any other trouble, please try to make sure that you're working with local project files. The issues you're describing sound like you may be working with files that aren't on your local hard drive. I may be wrong :) Just as a best practice, however, try not to work on any external resources.

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names (this includes spaces and underscores).

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

Let us know if you have any other trouble.

Have a great day!

Robert Erwin

I think I'm now confronting the underlying problem: When PowerPoint crashes during publishing, I get an error message saying it is having problems with the "Presenter ribbon add-on." I'll bet Presenter files have somehow become corrupted and I need to reload the program...Anyone have suggestions or observations on this?

Good morning Robert,

Thanks for the additional information - that does help :)

Please try the troubleshooting steps outlined in the following article:

The Articulate Tab on the PowerPoint Ribbon Is Missing

(This should also resolve an unresponsive Articulate Ribbon)

If that doesn't fix the problem, please try repairing Studio '13:

Articulate Support - How to Repair Articulate Studio '13

If you're still experiencing these issues, please try the following troubleshooting steps:

Unexpected or Erratic Behavior in Articulate Studio

Let me know if you try all of those suggestions and still have trouble.

Thanks!
