Canvas and Articulate problems

Apr 11, 2014

Dear all

Yes, this old chestnut again.

We are moving from webCT to Canvas. We had problems with the interactions not showing images properly last year and so decided to delay the move until this September.  We have upgraded to the 2013 Articulate versions and have started the monumental task of re-publishing all of our content.

We uploaded a couple of test lessons a couple of months ago to see if worked and all seemed okay, however......

Since republishing and loading some of the new re-published content it seems all is not well again.

We wanted to use the html launcher so that our students could see the content in a separate browser window, due the small size of the Canvas viewing window.  One of my lessons plays fine, the other 2 do not, they load the skin but the little wheel just keeps on spinning and the content does not play.  I have checked all the settings and they are all the same, so I am really at a loss to see how one works and the other do not.  We have re-named the files, re-published and re-published on a different machine.  A colleague unloaded a couple of his lessons and they work okay, however none of our material will work in anything other than Firefox browser (i.e. it does not work in IE or Chrome).

All of my courses will launch okay using the html5 launcher, but they sit within the small Canvas window and the exit button and the resources (additional pdf material) do not work.  When I say they launch okay, this is using Firefox, they do not work using IE or Chrome.

In summary.

Can anyone tell me why some material will work and some loads the skin but goes no further?

Why can we not see anything in other browsers?

Why does it only open in the small Canvas window if we launch using html5 launcher?

Why does the resources and exit buttons not work in html5 launcher?

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this (and hopefully replying!), it seems as if we banging our heads against a brick wall with Canvas, but our hands are tied.

Kind regards

Simon

Hi Simon and welcome to E-Learning Heroes!

Hard to diagnose without seeing what you have going.

It may be worth testing this in SCORM Cloud to help us determine if the issue is Articulate-related or if it's on your LMS's side. If it appears in SCORM Cloud as well, we'd be happy to take a closer look at what might be going on. If you can't replicate the issue in SCORM Cloud, it's probably an issue that you'd want to take to your LMS team.
The articles here and here may also help clear up common LMS issues.
