Capturing user email address and sending to a URL

May 29, 2014

Everyone,

I am using Articulate Presenter 09 and have come up against an issue that I have no idea how to fix.  Hopefully some of the brighter minds out there will be able to help me out.

We are in the process of converting our online LMS content to articulate presentations, this has afforded us the ability to make them both simpler to use and much more interactive.  Many of our online courses contain video content that we stream from a third party vendor.  Here is where I am running into issues.  The vendor requires users to login to view content, we have been able to make this login transparent within our LMS by using the vendor provided launch URL and the users email address as a parameter appended to the end of the URL.  I have no idea how to do this in Articulate.

My idea is to place a slide at the beginning of each presentation asking the user for their email address, I would store this address in a variable and append to a web object URL to have the user click on.  This sounded simple until I found out that Articulate 09 does not have the ability to use variables out of the box.

I know I could probably use a swf file that would record the email address but I have no idea how to get that out and append it to the launch URL.  Any ideas on how I would do this? Thanks in advance for any help that you can give.

Scott
