Changing the title of my course after it has been published

May 22, 2012

I have already published my course and it has been posted on our website. I want to rename my module title WITHOUT changing the link. Is there a way to do so?

Hi Alisha, welcome to Heroes!

Well, yes and no- it depends which title you're hoping to change and where it's being hosted. If you only want to change the title in the browser, you can edit that in the player.html and be done. If it's the title of the course itself, you'd have to make that change in the source and then republish. That would change the URL if you were using Articulate Online, for example. But for other hosts, I don't see why you couldn't make the change and then upload it to the same location without changing the URL. If you're uploading to an LMS, then it would depend on the LMS.

Hi Peter - just a further query on this one - if I want to change (shorten) the title so that I have a shorter URL but keep the same course name, can I just change it in player.html?

I'm having trouble getting courses to work on an Intranet as it seems my title is too long and contains spaces. I want to keep a sensible name withing the course itself but want a shorter, no spaces URL. Just trying to do with without having to re-publish all 12 of my courses!

Many thanks,

Fiona.
