Click to Resume popup - Chrome

Jun 18, 2014

Hi all am translating a English course into German for our client so far all is good I have changed the slides to German and changed the built in labels to German (from English). Published the course checked it all through all seemed grand. Thought i'd check it one last time and have found the following issue with the 'would you like to resume' pop up:

As you can see it displays fine in IE but messes up in Chrome. There anyway to add extra padding to this text am happy to have a big space on the IE version if it means the Chrome version doesn't overlap.

Hi Stephen,

I've tested the same on my end and I'm not seeing the same thing in Google Chrome Version 35.0.1916.153 m.

Here are the test projects I used:

English version:

Testing Resume Prompt

German version:

German Testing Resume Prompt

This is what I see when comparing the two:

Can you tell me how you're viewing the published presentation, please? Are you viewing the published output files locally, or are you uploading to a web server or LMS?

If you're viewing your published files locally, this may be the problem. If you view a published Studio '13 or '09 presentation on your local hard drive or send it to someone else to view on their local hard drive, you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features of your content to fail.

To properly test your published content and share it with others, upload it to the environment for which it was published. Please review the article below for more information:

Tips for Managing Project Files

  • I suggest using SCORM Cloud for your course - it's a great place to test SCORM content.
  • Another option would be to use our Tempshare server. Just keep in mind that this server is only available for testing content - it is not officially supported by Articulate and all content will be removed automatically after 10 days.
  • You're always welcome to try out Articulate Online, as well - it's available for a free 30 day trial.

Let me know if you're still having trouble with this, or if you have any questions.

Best,

Christine

Hi Stephen,

I apologize, it didn't occur to me that you were using '09. Sorry about that! You're correct, I performed this test using '13 - which would explain the differences :)

I tested this morning using Studio '09 (

Here's my English Version:

Testing Resume Prompt English

Here's the German Version:

Testing Resume Prompt German

I do see the same with the Presenter '09 published content:

All of the content is displaying, but since the German version is a bit longer, it does display in an odd way.

One option would be to cut down the phrase in German - For example, you could edit the text labels and use "Would you like to resume?" - I don't know German, but that should be shorter in both languages and you should see less of an issue with the buttons and text.

I think that might be the best option, since it's not possible to save additional line breaks in the text labels.

Let me know if this is something that will work for you.

Thanks!

Christine
