Flash Videos

May 06, 2013

Hi everyone!

I am having a few issues with Flash video in my presentation.

1. I am trying to convert a few Windows Media Videos (WMV files) to Flash using Articulate Video Encoder '09. I successfully converted one of the three videos and uploaded it into my presentation. The other two will not convert to Flash. Every time I try to publish them I am receiving an error message telling me that my memory is too low. This doesn't make sense because I have tons of free space to use on local drives as well as corporate shared drives.

2. I am able to successfully preview my Flash video within PowerPoint and Presenter '09. However, when I go to publish my presentation, the video does not playback in the slide.

I have reviewed all of the Flash settings on my PC several times and have contacted technical support at my company to go over the issues. They believe that it may be a software specific issue. If anyone is able to assist or provide me with some information, it would be greatly appreciated!

Hey Michael, welcome to the community!

First, you'll want to be sure you're following some basic rules to prevent strange behavior:

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names.

As for not being able to see the video when viewing the published version, it's likely you're running into a local security restriction. You'll need to get the course uploaded to its intended environment to view it properly.

And if you're still experiencing the issues, a simple repair may fix the problem. If not, please feel free to submit a ticket to our support team for additional help.

Thanks!
