How do I make the Web Object pretty?
Sep 16, 2016
I want to create a link to a survey. Actually, it's already created and functioned in Presenter 09, but I'm updating and now we have Presenter 13. It only opens in a window without ability to scroll and no place to create options for the window. I don't understand why that kind of simple hyperlink is no longer possible, so now I'm trying a web object.
I can create a web object, but then it's just this weird gray blob on the screen. I have read hours and hours worth of support documents and message board and find no instruction for actually making the web object look like something other than a weird gray box label as "web object." I have to be missing something, because I can't believe that is the intent.
Image of my screen from a published instance is attached.

Hi Gina!
Looks like you are looking at the placeholder in preview. To properly test a web object, you would want to publish your project to take a peek.
Actually, that is the an image from a published presentation.
Are you trying to use a web object because you can't get a hyperlink to work? I saw your other post here.
If this is a different issue, have you told this web object to "Display in slide" or "Display in a new browser window"?
It's my understanding that the web object inserts an actual object into your slide. It doesn't sound like it's supposed to be editable to make it look a certain way, like how you would treat a button.
Hi Gina! Do you have a .story file that you would like us to take a look at?
No. It's a Presenter file, not Storyline.
I apologize Gina! We have so many Storyline questions, it's my brain's default. At least I did share the right file type with you here. Based on that thread, it sounds like you are going to reach out to our team.
If you did want to share your Articulate Package, you could do so here.
