How to Get One Audio Across Multiple Slides?

Feb 19, 2015

I have a single 25 minute audio file. I also have three very long blocks of text (transcript, commentary, further study) that need scrollbars. I want the user to be able to navigate back and forth through the audio clip on a single audio seekbar. I also want the user to be able to click back and forth between the text blocks without losing their place on the audio. How can this be done? Thanks!

Hi Kevin,

Within Presenter you can add a playlist, or audio that will play across more than one slide, but I am not certain I'm following the set up you'd like to have in regards to clicking between the text boxes and keeping the audio? Are the text boxes going to be different slides?  The seekbar as you see detailed here is a slide by slide seekbar as well - there isn't one that will span multiple slides.

Hi Ashley,

Yes, I've put the text boxes on separate slides. I've tried three separate strategies to insert the audio, but each has drawbacks:

1) In PowerPoint at the slide level (audio stops when user advances to next slide) . . . although I was playing around with a hack involving "hidden" slides that would trick PPT into thinking it wasn't really advancing to the next slide . . . but that didn't work.

2) In Articulate at the slide level (audio stops when user advances to next slide . . . but playbar works)

3) In Articulate as a playlist (audio runs across slides . . . but no playbar). Is there a similar "playlist" function within Engage??

I guess I can't have everything: free user movement + one audio across all slides + one seekbar across all slides . . .

--Thanks.
