Importing Articulate Project to be able to create further edits

Jan 23, 2014

A coworker and I are working on an Articulate Project together. He did his portion, now I need to make some edits and finish a few things. He did the quizzes and audio and some basic things, I need to fix a few of the fonts, colors, pictures, etc. I am trying to figure out, once he was published the file, he zipped it, put it in dropbox, I downloaded the zip file, I extracted the components, and now I'm trying to open up the project so that I can edit it. I can't figure out how to do that. I don't want to lose his audio that was edited and included in there, I don't want to lose the quiz, so I can't just open up the simple powerpoint file, I need the entire articulate project, but I can't figure out how to open that up all intact. Help! Project is due tomorrow!!!

Hi Angel and welcome to E-Learning Heroes!

You need to get your co-worker to share his Articulate Package with you:

When working on an Articulate Presenter presentation in a collaborative environment with other developers, use the following workflow:

  1. After creating, editing, or publishing a presentation on your local hard drive, use the Send to Articulate Presenter Package feature to make an exact copy of your project (including Engage interactions and Quizmaker quizzes). This will generate a zip file. (Use this if you are using Studio '13)
  2. Copy the zip file to your network drive for storage and sharing.
  3. When you need to edit or publish the presentation again, copy the zip file to your local hard drive and extract it.
  4. Then edit or publish.
  5. Repeat steps 1-4 as necessary.

By working with the project files on your local hard drive, you'll prevent loss of resources, file corruption, and other erratic behavior that can occur by working on a network drive.
