In search of folks who have experienced similar symptoms ...

May 31, 2020

Every once in a while you run across a symptom or a series of symptoms that make you scratch your head and wonder, "Am I the only one?"

This is one of those times, and I'm reaching out to see if anyone has noted similar behavior, and what (if any) resolution was found.

Here are the facts.

1. A Presenter 360 project with narration, published to SCORM 1.2 in HTML5 Only.

2. SCORM 1.2 content hosted on Moodle LMS.

3. Content viewed on a Windows 10 PC, using the Firefox browser.

Given these three parameters, at intervals of almost exactly 60 seconds, the audio narration pauses (goes silent) for about four tenths of a second.

So far, the audio issue is only observed when it's hosted in Moodle and viewed in Firefox. For example, if hosted in Moodle and viewed in Chrome or Edge ... no problem. If hosted on SCORM Cloud, no issue, even in Firefox.

I'm trying to figure out which party is likely to be able to help troubleshoot this ... is it Moodle? (Perhaps, but it plays fine on Chrome and Edge on Moodle).  Is it Firefox? (Perhaps, but it does play fine in Firefox when hosted on SCORM Cloud). Is it Articulate? (I don't have a different SCORM publishing tool, so I can't eliminate Articulate, either).

Thoughts, anyone?

Hi Dave,

Thanks for reaching out! You mentioned that you loaded the course to SCORM Cloud and didn't experience any issues with Firefox. That leads me to believe it may be an issue with Moodle using Firefox and maybe worth following up with Moodle to see if there are any audio playback issues using that specific browser.

Our support team would be more than happy to do additional testing with your course and confirm your experiences. Feel free to use the link below to reach out to us!
