Insert Flash Video function is crapping out

Sep 09, 2013

Hi,

I've recently had this problem start happening when inserting flash objects into Articulate Presenter. The fields just all go empty. It's like the information isn't being passed or something. Please see the image below. Can anyone tell me why this is happening or what I can do to fix it? Thanks

Hi Ryan,

That definitely looks like some unusual behavior, can you confirm that you're:

  • Working locally (typically your C: drive), as working on a network drive or USB can cause erratic behavior
  • Have kept your file paths to Articulate Presenter presentation and publish location to well under the 260-character limit imposed by Microsoft Windows.
  • Are not using special characters, accents, or symbols in file paths and file names

These things are all known issues that can cause file corruption, or otherwise odd behavior. If you're able to confirm that you're following those guidelines, and since it's just started to happen you may want to conduct a repair of your Presenter software.  Lastly, please feel free to open a Support case so that our team can guide you through further troubleshooting.

Good Morning, Ryan.

I've seen this behavior after an abnormal end (crash) to Articulate Presenter.  A reboot should resolve it, but I prefer to avoid those whenever possible!

As an alternative, you can close PowerPoint and check Windows Task Manager for a lingering "AP6.exe" process, as shown here:

If you end this task and reopen PowerPoint, you should find that Presenter has returned to normal.

Please let us know if you need anything else, and have a great day!
