Large presentations gets an error on publishing
Oct 21, 2013
I have a presentation that is 246 slides long that I was able to publish in Presenter '09. I cannot publish this presentation to the web in Presenter '13 without getting the error of "Articulate Presenter '13 has stopped working." Although, I can preview slides just fine. I have been able to publish smaller presentations many times with success. It seems to get through writing all of the slides including the optimizing images step when it fails after this. A Temp directory is left in the published folder.
I did manage to publish it successfully once to completion, but there was no audio despite importing audio for all slides (except quizzes) prior to publishing. There was a .old Articulate Presenter Project file in the folder when this occurred. I deleted that file and then re-imported all of the audio (again) and now I am up against a brick wall trying to publish it without this error. I have a Windows 7 64 bit computer. This is definitely getting frustrating. Any help would be appreciated.

I was able to publish this presentation for a CD with no errors. However, I am still unable to publish this large presentation to the Web for mobile or HTML5.
Tried this again with a shorter presentation (~100 slides) and the same error message when publishing to the Web. It's puzzling why it'll create the CD version, but not the HTML5 version. I have multiple quizzes in the presentation...not sure if this could be the issue.
Howdy, Scott. How you been doin? Looks like we're both here looking for the elusive HTML5 solution...

What are you referring to Russ? Is there a known problem in Presenter '13 concerning publishing large presentations and HTML5?
I'll pm you in here with my phone number. I've lost your email address.
So it seems as if the presentation can be generated as long as you don't include any of the mobile or HTML5 option (in other words, Flash only).
Hi Scott! Can you package your course and submit it to us?
I am still playing around with it to find the slide or audio that's causing the issue. When I get a presentation that is small and repeatable, I'll package it up and send it to you.
I simply went to the PowerPoint file and did a "Save As" under a different name and published with no errors. Very strange indeed.
It is. Glad that it is working now though. Thanks for the update.
Well, it's working for a smaller (but still large) presentation. I have packaged and submitted the larger one to support for their review. I still have not been able to get this one to publish to HTML5. Just a note to the support person that is assigned...the audio is imported for all slides except quizzes. Quizzes have no imported audio. Audio was included in the zip file.
Hi Scott! Thanks for the update as I did not realize that you did go ahead and submit a case (00363833). I see where you added those comments as well and you should be hearing from someone soon.
Figured it out. Even though I was publishing it to the local hard drive, the *path* when selecting the destination location during publishing had "Network" in the Explorer path. Something like Network -> MY-PC -> C -> Users ->.... Changing that to Computer -> Local Disk (C -> Users -> ... allowed the presentation to finish without errors. Subtle issue, but real.
Thanks for the update Scott
I'm really disappointed with Articulate 360. I cannot compile my programs and I desperately need to do so. These help threads are years old and it looks like the same errors are occurring 6 years later. I'd ask for a refund but I don't think that would happen and it would be a huge waste of my time. Unless you have any great insights, I'll be looking at different publishing software and will definitely NOT renew.
Hi there, Steven.
I'm very sorry to hear you're hitting a wall during the publishing process. You're right, that should not be happening.
I'm going to connect you with our Support Engineers so we can get this straightened out for you as quickly as possible. The team will likely need to test an affected Articulate Package, so please use this unique upload link to share it with them privately. They'll let you know their findings, and will delete it after troubleshooting.
Be on the lookout for a follow-up email from support@articulate.com, and I'll follow along!
