Losing Ribbon when Synching

Apr 21, 2011

Hi all,

I have never had this happen before, but when using someone else's PPT template I can't synch my animations without losing my ribbon. It crashes just as I click "Save &Close" to get out of Synch mode. When I use one of my PPT files this does not happen. I've been troubleshooting this for 3 days now and I can't seem to figure it out...although I have narrowed it down to an object on the slide: an image, a graphic, a hyperlinked button, or a shadow effect. I know this because I've created several other PPTs and pasted the slide objects from the original PPT over to the new PPTs. Something I'm pasting over is corrupt, I just cant figure out what it is. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Christina

Hi Christina & welcome to Heroes,

You may encounter the following error message when working with PowerPoint:

"PowerPoint experienced a serious problem with the 'articulate presenter ribbon' add-in. If you have seen this message multiple times, you should disable this add-in and check to see if an update is available. Do you want to disable this add-in?"

Thanks for the quick reply, Brian. I have already done the repair to Articulate, reinstalled Articulate completely, and reinstalled flash 10. Unfortunately, I still get this error when I attempt to synch the slides that contain any of the  objects from the original PPT file. I know something must be corrupt in those objects, because none of my other PPTs are having issues. I'm synching perfectly with them. The problem is that my co-workers have 6 courses that were built in this original PPT template that is corrupt and they are having to manually time out all of their animations instead of using the Synch button(because they lose their ribbon everytime they try to synch.)... Not using the Synch button is a nightmare!! Yikes!

I'm wondering if it could one of the graphics that has been inserted into the slide. I did notice that some of the pictures on the slides show up as "PPTShape_0" instead of "Picture" like they should be. When I took these graphics out, it synched fine.

is that part of the template in the Master Slide, or are they graphics that are slide dependent? if on the master, youshould be able to make the offending graphic save as picture, then re-import.

I had a similar situation a while back where the slide background object was made up of 6-7 different objects which were grouped. One of them went bad and caused bizarre behavior. I created a slide master screen for that one slide, and that fixed the problem.

A bit wonky, but sometimes wonky has to be enough.
