You can remove the Menu from the Player sidebar by clicking on the Articulate tab on the PowerPoint ribbon, and then click Player.
From there, de-select Menu from the Player Tabs section.
When you say is it possible to have a presentation the same as a PowerPoint format, do you mean you'd like to remove the Player completely? If you want all of the player features disabled to give it that "chromeless" look, you can certainly do this. More information can be found in this tutorial on Choosing Player Features.
