My PPT animation turns red in presenter

When I view the slide in PPT, it works just fine, but when I view it in presenter, the animation doesn't start for a few seconds and then the image turns into a red sillouette instead of the image. Does anyone know how to fix this? also, how do I time the slide so that the animation starts right away and the slide advances as soon as the animation is finished?
