(Sorry for
my poor English. This is not my language and I use Google translate to write to
you)
When I
publish my e-learning course in HTML5, I can see it perfectly on mobile devices, but the videos (mp4) that I inserted
does not appear. The frame is black.
However, these videos are visible if I
look the course on a PC.
Why does it work on previous published modules and now I have to somehow "notify" the iPad users to touch the screen.
I find this irritating.
Also the timeline will start on the slide and when I touch the video it plays but if the video is longer than the timeline
it cuts off because they didn't touch fast enough. So I think I'm going to have to change all the videos with a Click "touch" the button (trigger) to start the video so it works on both pc and ipad? This way the timeline will pause until the trigger takes place? Suggestions?
Is there some javascript code that can be attached to the slide object that says " automatically play video) and safari understands this?
The question of the UI as it relates to the video -- Why should they have to be instructed to click anything. So now do I have to construct some sort of if>then instructions?
"IF you are using a laptop or desktop to view this course, then just wait for the video to start".
If you are using a mobile device (but not Android Mobile Devices) you need to click on the Blacked out video frame to start the particular slide..."
95% of my users will NOT use a mobile device and I'd rather not confuse them with extraneous instructions. I would agree that many saavy computer users would poke around the screen until something started playing but that doesn't hold true for most of my audience who may' have not had much to do with computers in an e-learning environment.
I'm not a programmer, and I know that some things can SEEM simple at face value... Dianne, can you say why this just can't be set so that:
(1) The student advances to a slide
(2) The video starts playing automatically
What's different about the mobile environment that prevents this (seemingly) simple functionality?

Hi Benoit and welcome to E-Learning Heroes!
Our requirements for viewing Presenter '13 content can be found here.
I'm not sure what kind of device you are trying to view this one, but please note that we do not currently support Android.
If you can provide some more details if you meet all of the requirements, please do so.
Hi Leslie,
I'm going to jump into this conversation.
I'm having the same problem but maybe not!
video .mp4 is inserted and I have video option set to start automatically with slide.
I have the module (all slides) advance by user with click next.
PC video works automatically.
On ipad Air, the video is there (black screen) and when I touch it begins to play.
I don't want this "touch" requirement! Why is this occurring? Any help would be appreciated.
Also, I've had no problems with this on my older modules (we have the latest storyline version) - but now all the one's I seem to be
reviewing after publishing is doing this. I'm confused.
If you touch the black box does your video start playing on the ipad?
Hi Dianne!
Jump in anytime!
Yes, it could be the same issue, and this is actually the expected behavior. You can check out this article if you would like to read more on this.
Thanks.

Or am I just out of luck.
Hi Dianne!
You could have the slide advance by user to prevent the timeline from advancing the slide.
You can read more about that in this tutorial.
Hi Leslie
Hi Dianne
I think that your conversation will help me a lot. I'll make test next week (after my holidays) and I will give you the news.
I wish you a beautiful and happy new year
thank you
Benoit
But still....
