PowerPoint Upgrade?

Mar 14, 2011

Hi everyone,

I currently using PowerPoint 2003 as my base platform.  After watching all of the screenrs, and learning through the forums, I asked my boss if I could upgrade to 2010!

Would it be smarter to upgrade to 2007 first though?  I'm not sure how many people in my company are working in the different versions, but I think they're mostly falling into the 2003.  I want to make certain that my material is transferable and compatible with everyone.

Also, is the upgrade and additions worth the change to 2007 or only to 2010?  Thank you!

I don't remember that significant a difference between 2003 and 2007. But I do see significant changes in 2010. Personally, I'd skip 2007. You'll run into similar regression issues when falling back to 2003 from 2010 as you likely would from 2007 (pptx <> ppt), so the argument between one and the other is moot, IMO.

One thing you'll want to consider is how often you'll be exchanging files (particularly sending your files back out for review and revision). If this is happening often, you may find yourself in a frustrating position if you're using 2010 features -- having to reapply them when you receive a downgraded file.

I'd go for it

We're using Articulate 6.3, and moving between computers using Powerpoint 2003 and 2010 (32 bit). In addition to the headaches about 2010 formatting not working the same in 2003, we're seeing font sizes changing unpredictably, quizzes that don't work when published and an assortment of other annoying problems while working under deadlines. Any ideas on how to prevent these problems?
