Presentation not viewable on web

Jan 09, 2012

I'm moving a presentation over from one web server to another.

I downloaded the presentation using FTP from the old web server. Then I uploaded it to the new server, but I can't play it there. I get the "Slide 100 of 160" symptom, which I have seen described here.

I was careful to upload the files in binary mode.

What else could it be?  Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi Sonja, and welcome to Heroes!

As you noted, the "Slide 100 of 160" you're seeing is usually symptomatic of corrupted XML files. Have you been able to get your output to play fine locally? Here's the article it sounds like you're referring to for more troubleshooting ideas:

Note the mention of directory structure and Java Runtime Environment as well. I hope that's helpful.

Thanks Peter.  Yes, this is exactly the article I was referring to.

My content does run fine locally, and I was careful to preserve the directory structure.  I am not running this presentation within an LMS -- I have no problems with the Articulate presentations I *am* running in the LMS.

Are there any other reasons why this symptom might appear?

Hi Sonja,

If you've tried using the FTP upload feature of Articulate Presenter without success, I'd recommend submitting a case to our support engineers explaining the issue you're experiencing. You can do that here:

http://upload.articulate.com/

When submitting your case, please include the url to this thread as well as any other pertinent information. And feel free to leave your case number here so that I can follow it personally. Thanks!

Hello Peter!

I meant to update this thread when I solved the problem, but got distracted.  Thanks for following up.

We weren't able to upload the presentation from within the Articulate software, but uploading it using FTP software (FileZilla) directly from the computer on which it had been created solved the problem.

I'm still not really sure what the difference was, since I know the presentation ran locally on my computer -- perhaps some kind of file permissions issue?

In any case, it is working now!
