Presenter '13 crashing when exiting Slide Properties

May 07, 2015

So I'm using Powerpoint 2013 (PPT) on Windows 7 Enterprise with Service Pack 1 using a 64-bit OS with 10 GB of ram. After I'm done editing the Powerpoint slideshow I access the Articulate Tab and click Edit Menu I  begin to create my presentation.

After I have finished with my setup of the presenation I click OK from Edit Menu and I click OK from the Slide Properties. From here my the file is building from my edits in Articulate, PPT freezes and eventually shutsdown. PPT is now locked at the Slide Properties and I can no longer access Articulate and have to force quit PPT . From there I have to use Task Manager to quit PPT .

I do receive a pop-up from Articulate that tells me to report the issue with every unexpected shutdown. It's been consistently happening after two or three Articulate file I create.

Any suggestions? Or maybe even questions as I may be missing something from my explanation. Thank you.

Hi Leslie, thanks for responding.

I run all my files locally. I also conducted the repair as advised from another post about Presenter '13 unexpectedly quitting.

I began to run the file again to test and it quit on me again. I'm attaching a screenshot of the error msg. Went ahead and clicked continue and the Slide Properties is just not responding.

Thanks for sharing Erwin! Are you utilizing the same theme or template in the files that you are having difficulty with?

Try the following to see if corruption may be the issue:

  1. Open a new, blank presentation in PowerPoint.
  2. Go to the Home tab, click the drop-down arrow beside New Slide, and choose Reuse Slides.
  3. In the Reuse Slides panel, click the Browse button and choose Browse File.
  4. Browse to your original PowerPoint file and click Open.
  5. At the bottom of the Reuse Slides panel, mark the box to Keep source formatting.
  6. Right-click the first slide in the Reuse Slides panel and select Insert All Slides.
  7. Save the new presentation and republish.

Note: Articulate resources, such as audio and video, will need to be inserted again into the new presentation. You may need to export the narration from your original presentation, then import it into the new presentation.

Yes I am using the Theme or template across 38 different PPT files. I also went ahead and deleted all the video files already in the PPT file and imported new ones directly from my local files. I will definitely try the corruption step-by-step you have provided.

Also, I experiencing this shutdown before I even publish. This error or shutdown is happening as I am exiting Slide Properties before I even get a chance to publish the PPT file.

 Update:

The file finally went thru. So safe to assume their is no corruption with my Theme. I know the file is going to work cause the Articulate GUI looks like this when it's successful, look at the image I've attached.

Sorry for the mislead, it's really the only way Ive been conditioned to believe the program is working.

We went ahead with the extreme and remapped my computer completely reinstalled the OS and programs. I started using Presenter this morning and ran it as I normally do. I noticed a bit of difference with speed but as I finished my edits in slide properties it crashed on me. Sent a crash report to the via the GUI that pops up but was not able to add my email address as the program was no responding.
